Source was devastated to hear of the sudden passing of one our most beloved former employees, Susan Kerr-Smith.

Susan joined Sentinel UK, as we were known then, on 1st July 1998.  She was initially employed as a Sales Co-Ordinator, and she played a key role in building relationships with our burgeoning adviser community.  Many of Source’s advisers will have had the pleasure of speaking to Susan during her 21-year career with us, as she was especially skilled at maintaining professional associations. Apart from a few years as a Complaints Manager, Susan spent her whole career at Source doing what she did best, talking to our adviser community.    

Everybody who worked alongside Susan was struck by her passion and unwavering commitment to the things she cared about.  Susan also had a great gift for providing empathy, both personally and professionally, and many Source colleagues are grateful that she showed them open-hearted kindness when they needed it most. Susan was also passionate about Source and her interaction with advisers, and was instrumental in the company’s success in the early 2000s.

Susan left Source in a typically understated manner in June 2019, as she didn’t want a fuss. In an email she sent to staff after she’d left the office, she reflected “I’ve had a wonderful 21 years and have so many happy memories of people and events. Recently a new member of staff asked me what the best part of Source was, my answer was, “the staff.”  

Susan passed unexpectedly whilst doing what she loved – cruising around the Mediterranean.

Susan was an important part of Source’s DNA and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
